Susan Noble

March 7, 1944 — November 1, 2020

Susan Noble of Waco, formerly of Uvalde, passed away on November 1, 2020 at her residence. Susan was born on March 7, 1944, to John Edward (Jack) and Josephine Noble.  After beginning her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse in Montell, she transferred in third grade and graduated from Uvalde High in 1961.  She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Sam Houston State in 1965 with a degree in Home Economics.  Susan continued her collegiate education and earned her master’s degree from the University of Texas San Antonio.

After graduation, Susan joined Montgomery Ward to start and foster their Home Fashion Forum, a program offering decorating courses to the public.  She impacted the lives of many students teaching Home Economic Cooperative Education at MacArthur High School in San Antonio for 35 years.  She was active in the Bexar County Home Economics Cooperative Education Association, the Vocational Home Economics Teachers of Texas and the Future Homemakers of America.  She was selected as the Texas Home Economics Association Teacher of the Year in 1980 for her development of curriculum for a cooperative education program.

She was involved in the MacArthur High School German/American Exchange Program and loved taking students to Germany to visit their German counterparts.  In her spare time, she also enjoyed reading, researching the family genealogy and doing crossword puzzles. She was also an avid San Antonio Spurs fan!

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Lawrence II.

Survivors include her sister, Teemus Warner and husband, Jimmy, of Waco; niece Rebecca Atkinson and husband, Derrick, of Fort Worth; nephew John Warner and wife, Deborah, of Waco; and great nieces and nephew, Asa, Emma and Noble.
