Stanley Metcalf

Stanley Lin Metcalf, owner and publisher of the Kinney County Post Newspaper, died at his home in Brackettville, Texas, early Saturday morning, May 8, 2021, after a lengthy illness.

Stan was born August 14, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas and was the only child of Lindley Wilson Metcalf and Bobbie Nell Howze Metcalf. He lived most of his life in Hereford, Texas.

He married Jan Story on Jan. 29, 1981. While in the Texas Panhandle, Stan was involved in agriculture. In 2006, due to health conditions, Stan and wife Jan moved to Brackettville, Texas. On May 12, 2009, they published the first copy of the Kinney County Post.

Survivors include his wife Jan Story, and Hereford residents son Don Metcalf and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sandra Story and the Honorable Judge Roland Saul. Chaplain Gary and Carol Story of Wilmore Kentucky., brother-in-law, Roy Mustian of Graham, Texas. Special friends Isauro (EZ) Rivas, Mrs. Mary Sam York, Vic Hilderbran and Chad Potts.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law, Joy Story McDowell and Nancy Story Mustian.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
