Shirley Stoner passed away March 29, 2021 at the ranch she and her husband Chilton Stoner called home on the Rocksprings Highway near Montell, Texas. Born Shirley Ann Harp in Knippa, Texas on January 6, 1935 to Ada Mae McNair Harp and George Washington Harp. She married Thomas Chilton Stoner, III on December 25, 1964 and began her life as a rancher’s wife, mother of 5 children and later in life she enjoyed the success of owning retail stores in San Antonio, Texas.

Shirley spent some of her younger years in Knippa on the family farm and then moved to Uvalde and attended her school years there. She was a graduate of Uvalde High School.

Shirley is survived by her 5 children; Joel Patrick Casey and his partner David Leighton of New York City. Myrtle Lynn Stoner Spires of Odessa. Lee Ann Casey Kramer and husband Leslie Wayne Kramer of Montell. Thomas “Tom” Chilton Stoner, IV and wife Marilyn Stoner of Camp Wood. Nancy Lee Stoner Espaillat and husband Joseph Eduard Espaillat of Dallas.

Shirley’s grandchildren Brandon Elrod, Casey Elrod married to Lori Cash Elrod, Harper Espaillat, Hathaway Espaillat, Lindsey Kramer Baxter married to Matt Baxter, and Lauren Kramer Baring married to Scott Baring. Shawna Nunn, William Spires, Victoria Spires and Mariah Spires.

Great-grandchildren Makenna, Holden, Gaige, Kayla, Kylie, Gentry, Tritt, Brody and Grayson.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Chilton Stoner, her sister Georgia Mae Gauthier, and 2 brothers Vernon Harp and Ben Harp all of Uvalde.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at the Montell United Methodist Church in Montell, Texas at 10:30 on Monday April 5th, 2021.  Interment at the Montell Cemetery and reception to follow at the Montell Country Club.

Pall bearers are Russel Smith, John Earl Teague, Luke Teague, Brandon Elrod, Casey Elrod, David Leighton, Joseph Espaillat, and Leslie Kramer.

Memorial donations may be made to the Montell United Methodist Church and/or the Montell Country Club.
