Romana A. Gonzales passed away at 12:16 am on April 24th, 2021. She was born August 9,1918 in Uvalde Texas to Antonio & Senovia Avalos and was one of eight children.
She married Evaristo Gonzales on April 17, 1938 and they shared 49 years of marriage before he passed on Oct 9, 1985. Together they had six children Luisa "Wiche" Gonzales, Leonor "None" Gonzales, Evaristo "Sonny" Gonzales, Juan Antonio "Pote" Gonzales, Hector "Cachie" Gonzales; and Rosa Elva "Tapa" Uriegas.
She was known by "Granny" to family and friends. Granny enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time making memories with her loved ones. She made the best food and always had something on the stove to share with whoever walked through her door, no matter what time of day it was. Some of her family favorites were tortillas, tamales, bunuelos and bean tacos.
She was 102 years young and her secret to live was black coffee, carne guisada, an occasional margarita and most important Love.
She was an angel here on earth and loved by all and will be remembered as one of the kindest, hardest working, most patient women who loved her family.
She is survived by two sons Pote and wife Rachel of Uvalde and Cachie and wife, Lily of San Antonio and one daughter Rosa Elva Uriegas of Uvalde. 20 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two daughters None and Luisa and one son Sonny.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
