Rebecca Borrego

Rebecca Gomez Borrego, beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed peacefully from her life surrounded by the love of her family at her side on October 7, 2021, at the age of 55 in Sabinal, Texas.

She was born in Uvalde, Texas on September 14, 1966 to Maria V. and Juan R. Gomez. She is preceded in death by her father, Juan R. Gomez and grandmother, Rosa Garza.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Meliton Borrego Jr. of Sabinal; her mother, Maria V. Gomez of Sabinal; son Meliton III & wife, Erica of Sabinal; daughter Juanita Borrego & companion, JD Chavez of Sabinal; daughter Lorena Sances & husband, Charles of Aransas Pass; son John Borrego & wife, Marilyn of Sabinal; and daughter Corina Borrego of Sabinal.

Her sisters Rosa Jacques & husband, Ruben of Sabinal; Patsy V. Gomez of Sabinal; Martha Gonzales & companion, Ismael Palacios of Sabinal.

She leaves 15 grandchildren, Danyelle, Janelle, Jonas, Caylee of Sabinal; Sergio Jr., Sariah, Hunter, Austin, Jayvyn of Sabinal; Aracely, Madison, Miaha of Aransas Pass; and Amila, Aubree, Kashlyn of Sabinal; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rebecca’s family will greatly miss her love, sweet smile and laughs that would fill the room.

Pallbearers will be Antonio Alejandro III, Ryan Jacques, Eluterio Borrego Jr., Baltazar Diaz, Benito Diaz, and Matt Thomas.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sergio Vasquez Jr., Jonas Borrego, John Borrego, and Meliton Borrego III.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sabinal, Texas. Cremation to follow. Rosary will be held on Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal, Texas.
