Nancy Cecile Matetzschk of Knippa passed away on March 12, 2019 in San Antonio at the age of 75. She was born on October 5, 1943 in Austin, TX to Joyce (Gibbons) and Dale McClung. She is survived by a daugher, Terri Lynn Shelby Black of Knippa and husband, Charlie; son, Robert Glenn Shelby and wife, Kendra of Bertram, TX; four grandchildren, Coltin Black, Taylor Black, Trevor Black, and Allison Shelby; and special friend, Elton Dornbusch of Knippa. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Joe McClung and Jimmy McClung. Nancy was retired from Concordia Lutheran University in Austin, TX where she served as Assistant Registrar for over 20 years. Nancy attended Southwest Junior College in Uvalde and graduated in 1965. While at SWTJC Nancy was voted Freshman Class Favorite. She was also was a member of the College Rodeo Team where she qualified for National Finals in Douglass, WY both years in Barrel Racing and Goat Tying. Nancy served as an assistant to Charles Wooten in the Biology Department. She spent her final years as a devout member and tireless volunteer of the Lutheran Church in Knippa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with burial to follow in Knippa Cemetery. Rev. Nathan Lafrenz will officiate.
