Nancy Caballero

July 20, 1962 — January 19, 2022

Uvalde

Nancy Martinez Caballero, 59, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on January 19th, 2022, at Methodist Hospital San Antonio, after a courageous battle with Lupus and Kidney Disease.

Nancy was born to Larry and Linda Martinez on July 20th,1962, in Uvalde, Texas. Her high school years were spent in both Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and Uvalde, Texas. She later attended Southwest Texas Junior College. On April 23rd,1983, she married the leather jacket-wearing love of her life, Albert Caballero. Nancy recently retired from twenty-five years in education, ending her teaching career at Uvalde Classical Academy.

At any given time in the summer, Nancy could be found in a bathing suit, swimming laps in the water. Try as her family might to beat her time, she was always the fastest. Her passion was spending time in her pool and hosting pool parties for her nieces, nephews, and church friends; many testify about learning to swim there. She was a girly-girl to her core. There were very few occasions where you would find her without her nails done. Nancy easily left an impression upon people's hearts when they met her. She shared her wisdom and love for knowledge, molding young minds throughout her career.

Nancy is survived by her husband Albert and daughters Devan and Chelsey Caballero of Uvalde; parents Larry and Linda Martinez of Uvalde; brother Tony Martinez of Waupun, Wisconsin; sister Cynthia Martinez of San Antonio; Todd Martinez and wife Jill of Seoul, South Korea; a handful of nieces and nephews that she loved to spoil and widowed sister-in-law Oralia Martinez Brunt of Omaha, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Maria “Cuca” Martinez of Uvalde, brother Jeremy “Jerry” Martinez of Omaha, Nebraska, and her beloved pets Bowen, Luke, Misty, and Bradly, all of Maple Street.
