Mary Hernandez

August 2, 1953 — April 17, 2020

On Friday, April 17, Mary Elizabeth Hernandez, loving daughter, sister, and friend passed away at age 66. Born in Austin, Texas on August 2, 1953, to Victor and Louisa Hernandez, she earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University in 1975 and was a long-time resident of Dallas County.

Mary had a zest for life, an infectious smile, a kind heart and spirit. Mary enjoyed plays, reading, writing poetry, and good meals with family and friends; mostly, she was passionate about reading. She treasured the written word so much she authored a children's book titled: The Parade Goes On.

Proceeded in death by her father, she is survived by her mother of Uvalde, sisters: Carmen del Rosario Hernandez of Ferris; Rosalba and husband Ben Moreno of Dallas; Suzanne (Susie) and husband Vincent DiPiazza of Uvalde; brother, Victor and wife DeAnna Hernandez of Garland; and nephews: Anthony DiPiazza of Rochelle, New York, Philip DiPiazza of San Antonio, James DiPiazza of Kerrville, Michael Hernandez of Garland, niece Amber Hernandez of Garland; five grandnephews; one grandniece; uncles Leon Hernandez of Austin and Alvino Tijerina of San Antonio and best of friends, Josie DeLuna (and family) and her three amigas: Lisa S. Lisa O. and Yolanda A. (There are too many good friends to list.)

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Mary by making a donation to:
