Martina Torres

Martina Torres of Sabinal passed away on May 1, 2022 at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85.

She was born on February 24, 1937 in D’Hanis, Texas to Jacinto and Sapopa (Porter) Rodriguez.

She is survived by daughters, Diana Torres and husband, Guadalupe of Sabinal; Norma Soto and husband, Jesus Rogelio of Del Rio and Amanda Torres of Sabinal; grandchildren, Melaine “Cori” Escamilla and husband, Jessie of Kyle, Guadalupe Torres, Jr. and wife, Melissa of Sabinal, Jesus Rogelio Soto, Jr. and wife, Leslie of Del Rio, Xavier Torres and wife, Stephanie of San Antonio, Joe Medina, III and fiancé, Klarissa Llanes of Sabinal, Marisa Soto of Del Rio, Encarnacion Jorge Soto and wife, Clarissa of Del Rio, and Maricela Torres and fiancé, Troy Rodriguez of San Antonio; great grandchildren, Rielynn Jo Medina of La Grange, Jay Enrique Escamilla of Kyle, Jorge Soto of Del Rio, Julianna Soto of Del Rio, Tomas Soto of Del Rio, Isabella Soto of Del Rio, Xavier Alan Torres, Jr. of San Antonio and Nathan Escamilla of San Antonio; sisters, Zenaida Arredondo of Idaho and Carmen Alvarado of Sabinal; sisters in law, Guadalupe Hernandez and husband, Tino of Comfort, Jesusa Rodriguez of Sabinal, Minnie Torres of Sabinal and Juana Rodriguez of Sabinal.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Enrique Torres; parents; brothers, Jacinto Rodriguez and Jesus Rodriguez; sisters, Eva Rodriguez, Guadalupe Camacho, Maria Leos, Maria Ignacia Alvarado, and Ninfa Martinez; and great granddaughter, Sophie Grace Torres.

Visitation will begin on Monday at 5:00 p.m. A rosary will be held on Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Sabinal Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Guadalupe Torres, Jr., Jesus Rogelio Soto, Jr., Joe Medina, III, Xavier Torres, Encarnacion Jorge Soto and Jessie Escamilla.
