Maria Elena “Nena” or “Mary Ellen” Sambrano went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2020, with her family by her side in San Antonio, TX at the age of 59. Mary Ellen was born on December 21, 1960 to Raul and Maria A. Del Toro in Uvalde, Texas. Mary Ellen dedicated her life to serving the Lord and was unmovable in her faith. She was a faithful member at her mother’s church in Batesville, TX until she went on to Pastor her own church in Carrizo Springs, TX. Mary Ellen was met at the pearly gates by her father, Raul Del Toro, her mother, Maria A. Del Toro and her beloved Pug, Bubbles. Mary Ellen will always be remembered by her husband, Martin Sambrano, her children, Patricia Martinez; Luis Martinez and wife, Savannah Martinez; Marsha Galindo and husband JJ Galindo; Raymond Sambrano and wife Jessica Vasquez. Mary Ellen cherished her grandchildren Larissa and Carmela Martinez; Raymond Junior and Andrew Sambrano; Melekai, Katheryn, Bo and Nicholas Galindo. Mary Ellen leaves behind beautiful memories with her brother, Jose Luis Del Toro and wife Lydia Del Toro; her sisters, Maria “Cookie” Arvizo; Christina Del Toro; Mary Ann and husband Sonny Flores; Margarita Sierra and husband Jimmy Sierra; Susana Del Toro; Dora Martinez and husband Jerry Martinez. Mary Ellen will be thought of fondly by her numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was raised to be a hard worker and get the job done. Her hard work began in the fields with her dad where she spent countless seasons working and driving tractors. She was not one to sit back and watch. She went on to help start her husband’s house moving business with the knowledge and experience she gained from working with her dad. She not only attended church but was a pillar of the church whose praises could always be heard. She would liven up the crowd in any service with her praise, her worship, her “HELLLOOOO” and “WATCH OUT”. She was sure to leave an impact on your life. Friends and family can come honor and pay tribute to her life beginning Saturday, February 01, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, 220 S Getty Street in Uvalde, TX. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 03, 2020 at 10:00 am at Templo Getsemani, 606 N. J A Gutierrez Street in La Pryor, TX. Interment to follow at La Pryor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Luis Martinez, Raymond Sambrano, David Arvizo, Jerry Daniel Martinez, Nathaniel Martinez, and Randy Sierra. Honorary Pallbearers will be JJ Galindo, Raymond Sambrano Jr., Andrew Sambrano, Melekai Galindo, Bo Galindo, and Nicholas Galindo.
