Lynda Carol Langford of Uvalde passed away on October 7, 2021 in Uvalde at the age of 74.  She was born on October 12, 1946 in Uvalde to Doc and Vera (Galbreath) Howard.

She married her high school sweetheart Ray Langford on May 29, 1970 in Uvalde.

Lynda graduated from Uvalde High School and Southwest Texas (now Texas State). She then began a career in teaching that lasted 30 plus years. She started as a 2nd grade teacher in Eagle Pass, then came to Uvalde where she eventually ended up at Uvalde High School where she taught Junior English and Yearbook among other subjects.  Lynda and Joyce Moore taught 3rd grade Sunday school at Getty Street Church of Christ for many years and more recently, her and Ray were the youth ministers at the Concan Church of Christ. After her retirement, she started her second career as a rancher. She enjoyed being out on the ranch and writing about her and Ray’s adventures.

Lynda is survived by her husband of 51 years of Uvalde; son Matt Langford and wife Andrea  Langford of Rowlett; grandson Jake Langford of Fort Worth; granddaughter Amy Langford of College Station; brother Jerry Howard and wife Suella Howard of Mesquite; sister and brother in law Jim and Janet Jackson of Rio Frio; sister in law Jean Rutledge of Hillsboro, New Mexico; sister in law Lindy Howard of Buda and many nieces, nephews, students and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Walter Howard; her sister Katherine Nelson and brother in law Charles Nelson.

She loved American literature, writing poetry, her cats, her dogs Nell and Sadie, her birds, and her 2 grandkids.

Lynda blessed everyone she came in to contact with. She never met a stranger. Countless people have been blessed by her friendship, her mentorship, or just a kind word from Lynda. She truly made the best of every situation. Even living in the nursing home, she made it her mission to help other residents and be kind to the staff.  She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. She will be greatly missed.
