Lora Sanderlin

Lora Jean Stephens Sanderlin of Sabinal passed away on December 14, 2019 at the Veranda Senior Living in Uvalde at the age of 94. She was born on September 4, 1925 to Frank and Elsie (Davis) Stephens.

She married Owen L. Sanderlin on October 22, 1948 in Uvalde.

She graduated from Uvalde High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. She taught in Uvalde High School before her marriage and in Sabinal High School for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and taught in the Sunday School for may years. She was also the church librarian in earlier years.

She is survived by her sister, Merle Davenport of Canyon Lake, Texas; nieces, Sherry Hall and husband, Alvin of Reagan Wells, Terri Davenport of Buda, Texas; Judy Sanderlin Newman of Lytle, Texas; nephews, Rex Davenport and wife, Karol of Harper, Texas, Stephen Davenport of Canyon Lake, Texas and Ted Sanderlin of Knippa, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A graveside service will be held on Monday December 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Uvalde Cemetery, Uvalde, Texas. Monty Benson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sabinal, will be leading.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
