Doctor Lewis Stelzer Christian, Jr. died on Thursday May 16th in San Antonio at the age of 74.

Dr. Christian is survived by his current wife, Jasmine Kapaka-Christian, of Kaneohe Hawaii, daughter Anita Lizette (Christian) Morgan & Mark Elliott Morgan of Auburn, Alabama, son Lewis Stelzer Christian, III & Emily (Egan) Christian, of American Fork, Utah, daughter Gina Marie (Christian) D’Camp & Nathan Thomas D’Camp, of San Antonio, Texas, son Jacob Daniel Christian of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Kathryn Antoinette (Christian) & David William Allan, of Liberty Township, Ohio, and daughter Anna Louise (Christian) & Brian Peter Donahoe of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his brother John Doc Christian & Wanda (Crawford) Christian of Kalispell, Montana, his sister Philicia Susanne (Christian) & William “Bill” James Thomas of Spanish Fork, Utah, and his brother Walter Willis Christian & Yvonne (DeVries) Christian of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Louise (Wagley) Christian of Many, Louisiana and his son Matthew Alden Christian as well as his parents Lewis Stelzer Christian, Sr. of Nederland, Texas and Anna Lee (McNeel) Christian of Nederland, Texas and his brother Mark Raymond Christian of Nederland, Texas.

Dr. Christian was born July 21, 1944 in Nederland, Texas to Lewis Stelzer Christian, Sr. and Anna Lee (McNeel) Christian. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1962. He served a 2 1/2 year, full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile. He graduated from Lamar University and then UAG Medical School. He did his residency in family medicine in Corpus Christi, Texas, then he began a career in Emergency Medicine working in numerous hospitals all over South Texas. He moved to Uvalde, Texas in 1991 and originally worked in the Emergency Room and then owned South Texas Urgent Care Center until his death.

Dr. Christian was a very hard working physician. He was a generous individual who loved cooking, fishing, and telling or hearing a good joke. He was passionate about helping people in need. He was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A viewing is scheduled for Friday, May 24th 7:00-9:00 pm then the funeral is scheduled for Saturday, May 25th 10:30 am both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 420 Ham Lane in Uvalde, Texas. He will be buried at Valley Memorial Gardens Sunday, May 26th at 2:00 pm.
