Juanita Perez Hernandez of Uvalde passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.  Juanita was born February 13, 1930 in Sabinal, Texas to Daniel and Telesfora (Torres) Perez.  Juanita was a hard working woman and mother to 8 children and many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren.  Juanita raised many of her grandchildren throughout her lifetime.  Juanita was the oldest of 12 siblings.  Juanita was married to the love of her life, Lazaro E Hernandez for over 50 years.  Juanita is preceded by her husband (Lazaro E Hernandez) and son (Porfirio Hernandez), her parents Daniel and Telesfora Perez.  Juanita is survived by her daughters Rosa Linda Martinez (Jose Martinez) of Knippa, Christina Morales of Parker, Arizona, Juanita Rodrigues (Hector Rodrigues) of Pocatello, Idaho, Lois Torres of Uvalde, Concepcion “Connie” Broussard (John Salcido) of Beaumont, Candelaria “Candy” Escorza of Parker, Arizona, and Frances Hernandez of Uvalde.  Juanita raised her grandsons Gabriel Salcido (Ingrid Fisketjon-Salcido) of Phoenix, Arizona, Daniel Torres of Uvalde and Antonio Longoria (Cindy Longoria) of Parker, Arizona, granddaughter, Jessica Arredondo of Uvalde, great granddaughters Janet Fajkus and Jasmine Fajkus of Parker Arizona.

Juanita, being the oldest of 12 children, also helped in raising her siblings Antonia Hernandez of Uvalde, Maria Cantu of Uvalde, Ambrosio Perez (Isabel Perez) of Iorrington, Wyoming, Inez Perez (Maria Perez) of Uvalde, Maria Elena Perez of Uvalde, Andres Perez (Ida Perez) of Uvalde, Guadalupe Price (Samuel Price) of Uvalde, Daniel Perez Jr (Aurora Perez) of Nampa, Idaho, Santiago Perez (Sandra Perez) of Uvalde, Silver Perez (Trinidad Perez) of Uvalde, Martina Pugh (Bill Pugh) of Rapid City, South Dakota. Juanita is survived by fifteen grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family is what made Juanita happy and surrounded by family is how she left this earth.

A rosary will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Perez, Gabriel Salcido, Michael Escorza, Antonio Longoria, Lionel Cantu Jr., Jose M. Longoria, Johnny Salcido, Cristino Longoria, Demetrio Cantu, David Cantu, Jose Medina III and Moses Torres.
