Jose Villarreal of Uvalde, Texas passed away on December 25, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas to the age of 58.  He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on September 7, 1962 to Jesus and Maria De La Luz Nandin Villarreal.

Joe served his community of Uvalde all his life unselfishly as a fourth degree Knight of Columbus for many years, also as a member of the Holy Name.  Joe early in life worked at KVOU and earned his nickname as the voice of Uvalde.  He also did the play by play at the Coyote football games for decades.  Joe never married or had children, so he baptized a number of children and became their Godfather.  He also had the honor of being a presenter at the Tejano music awards for several years.  Joe at the end was a caregiver taking care of the sick at their home. Joe will be missed by all his family.

He is survived by his sister, Rosa E. Balfour of San Antonio; brothers, Jesse Villarreal and wife, Celia Rodriguez of Carrizo Springs, Texas, John Villarreal and wife, Sherri of Katy, Texas and Baldomero Villarreal of San Antonio; nieces and nephews, Joe Martinez and companion, Patty Weaver Martinez , Charles Martinez, James Villarreal, Guy Billings and partner Jim Gerhold, Marissa Villarreal and wife, Avery, Lisa Greenbauer and husband, Ryan, Sebastion Villarreal, Jesclyn Villarreal, Brandon Villarreal, Hunter Martinez, Jesse Villarreal, Timothy Martinez and Jared Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Longoria Villarreal and late mother, Maria De La Luz Nandin Villarreal.

The family will greet visitors at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
