Obituary


Jose Humberto Rodriguez of Uvalde, passed away on February 25, 2023 at the age of 67.

He was born on February 28, 1956 in Piedras Negras, Mexico to Olga (Rodriguez) and Emiliano Rodriguez.
He married Odilia Ortega in Uvalde on December 21, 1974.

Chivi as he was known to most was a truck driver for over 28 years. He was a big sports fanatic, who loved his Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs and Texas Longhorns. Chivi also loved to shoot some pool from time to time. The one thing he loved the most in this world was his grandkids or his bendiciones as he would call them. There was nothing in this world that he wouldn't do for them and with them. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years of Uvalde; two daughters Patricia (Patty) Verdusco and Sonya Gonzales and companion Noel Guzman all of Uvalde; son Jose Luis Chapa of San Antonio; three sisters, Marisela Isaiz and husband Jesse, Beatrice Rodriguez and Lydia Sanchez and husband Humberto all of Bryan; brother, Emiliano Rodriguez and wife Aurelia of Bryan;  eight grandchildren; Adrian (Dos) Martinez, Jr, Isaac Michael Martinez of Hereford, Joshua Anthony Verdusco and Jaxon Anthony Gonzales of Uvalde, grand daughter Layla Noelle Guzman of Uvalde; Esperanza (Hope) Garcia of Denver City; JP Chapa of San Antonio and Tina Chapa of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 8:00 am at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Internment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adrian (Dos) Martinez, Jr, Isaac Michael Martinez, Joshua Anthony Verdusco, Noel Guzman, Robert (Bobby) Isaiz, Ismael Martinez, Victor Hernandez, Jr., Adrian Martinez, Sr., Frankie Vela, Juan Pena, Alonzo Garcia, John Jay Cano, and Johnny Fuentes

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jaxon Anthony Gonzales, Layla Noelle Guzman and Esperanza (Hope) Garcia.
