Henry Salas, retired Musician and Draftsman Engineer of Uvalde, Texas passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his beloved family on March 6, 2023.
He was born on June 16, 1943 in Uvalde, Texas to Maria Del Refugio Alvarez Salas of Fort Collins, Colorado and Salvador Salas Sr. of Uvalde, Texas.
He married Maria Teresa Aguilera on April 17, 1963. He moved his family to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1970 and returned to his hometown of Uvalde in 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Teresa Salas, four children, Sonia Salas, Sofia Salas, Henry Jay Salas all of Greeley, Colorado and Soraya Salas of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Dora Salas-Vigil (Andy) of Fort Collins, Colorado and Elizabeth Salas of San Antonio, Texas; five brothers, Andres Salas (Luci) of Prescott, Arizona, Samuel Salas (Connie) of Fort Collins, Colorado, Dr. Ricardo Salas (Beatrice) of Des Moines, Iowa, Daniel Salas of Denver, Colorado and Salvador Salas, Jr. (Eloisa) of Uvalde, Texas; Eleven grandchildren, Jessie Rodriguez, Jr., Jesstine Rodriguez, Teresa Gutierrez, Hipolito Muniz III, Marco Muniz, Ricardo Muniz, Izaac Muniz, Jorion Salas all from Colorado, John Enrique Cura, Juaquin Cura and Jeremias Cura all of San Antonio, Texas; twelve great-grandchildren, Aracely Rodriguez, Aijalon Almeida, Jesus Rodriguez, CrissyJo Rodriguez, Josiah Valero, Izaiah Muniz, Marco Muniz, Jr., Leon Salgado, Gabriel Muniz, Elijah Muniz, Deija Muniz, and Nehemiah Muniz.
He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kianna Salas, sister, Bertha Chapa, and two brothers, Juan Salas and Ernesto Salas.
Visitation will begin on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 1 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
