Harold Eaker

Harold Glenn Eaker, 79, of Uvalde, died on September 6, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born on April 15, 1941, in O’Donnell, Texas, to Willie Bell (Lazenby) and Melvin Eaker.  As one of four brothers, he graduated from La Pryor High School May 26, 1958 and then Southwest Texas Jr. College in 1960.  He married Rochelle Karen Robinson on June 17, 1961 in La Pryor, Texas.

He retired from General Tire Test Track where he worked as a long-distance driver and then Mechanical Supervisor.  He then worked as a Locksmith at A-1 Lock & Key for 21 years.

He served as a Deacon at both Baptist Temple and First Baptist Church of Uvalde for many years.  He was a beloved ambassador for Christ who warmly greeted folks everywhere he went and made them feel at home. As Santa’s “helper”, he delighted numerous children each Christmas at First State Bank.

He is survived by his children, Belinda Eaker Murel and husband Andrew [Murel] Alaska of North Branford, CT, Jonathan and Nancy Eaker of College Station, Lance and Boo Eaker of Houston, and Blake and Lourdes Eaker of Uvalde; 8 grandchildren, Brooke Eaker, Jacob Eaker, Jason Glen Alaska, Jennifer Alaska, Brandon Eaker, Bradley Eaker, Eli Eaker, and Benjamin Eaker.

He was preceded in death by both parents Melvin and Willie Bell [Lazenby] Eaker; his wife, Karen Rochelle Eaker; three brothers, Melvin Edgar “Doc” Eaker, Kenneth Wayne Eaker, and Jimmy Lee Eaker; and 2 grandchildren, Jeffrey Alaska and Audrey Karen Eaker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at First Baptist Church Uvalde, with Brother Lonnie Moore officiating.  Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde, Texas.
