Guadalupe R. Martinez of Uvalde passed away on June 1, 2021 at Methodist Texsan Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 85. She was born on December 12, 1935 in Congregacion de los Rodriguez Monicipio de Guerrero, Coahuila, Mexico to Melquiades Rodriguez Martinez and Maria de los Santos Elizondo Costilla.
She married Jose Armin Martinez from Guerrero, Coahuila, Mexico on January 2, 1955 in Piedras Negras, Mexico.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years of marriage; sons, Jose Armin Martinez and wife, Carolina of Dallas, Texas, Gerardo R. Martinez of Abilene, Texas, Fernando R. Martinez and wife, Janie of Bryan, Texas and Guadalupe R. Martinez of Luling, Texas; and brother, Ramon Gonzales of Austin; 8 grandchildren, Marysa Martinez, Gerardo “Jerry” Martinez, Jr., Jose “Joey” Armin Martinez, III, Adrian G. Martinez, Roxanne M. Garcia, Gabriella Martinez, Austin L. Martinez and Garret A. Martinez ; numerous great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Antonio R. Martinez; sisters, Carlota Rodriguez Bustos, Odilia Rodriguez, Aurelia Rodriguez, Rosa Elia Rodriguez, and Herminia Rodriguez; brothers, Melquiades Rodriguez, Helidoro Rodriguez, Ramiro Rodriguez, Abel Rodriguez and Rojelio Rodriguez.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jose Armin Martinez, II, Gerardo R. Martinez, Fernando R. Martinez, Guadalupe R. Martinez, Gerardo “Jerry” Martinez, Jr. and Adrian G. Martinez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Armin Martinez, III, Austin L. Martinez, Garrett A. Martinez, Zachary J. Arizmendi, Nathaniel E. Rodriguez, and Issac Martinez
