Felipe Medina

Felipe De Jesus Medina Serrato of Uvalde passed away on May 30, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 54.

He was born on August 3, 1967 in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico to Cirilo Medina Cruz and María Ángela Serrato Medina.

He married Sulema Trejo in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on April 25, 1998.

Felipe is survived by his wife of 24 years; daughters, Kimberly Michelle Ruiz and husband, Diego Alonzo, and Danielle Nicole Medina all of Uvalde; sister, Soledad Medina Serrato of Salamanca, Mexico; brothers, Jose Guadalupe Medina Serrato and wife, Ana, Albino Medina Serrato, Miguel Medina Serrato, Reynaldo Medina Serrato, Antonio Medina Serrato and wife Agustina, and Martin Medina Serrato all of Salamanca, Gto., Mexico; sister-in-law, Alma Yolanda Garcia of Uvalde; brother-in-laws, Miguel R. Trejo and wife Blanca, Victor M. Trejo and wife Imelda, and Roman O. Trejo all of Uvalde, Texas and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jose Francisco Medina Serrato; father- and mother-in-law, Miguel and Zulema Trejo; and brother-in-law, Raul Trejo.

Felipe was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, son-in-law, and friend. He had a passion for mechanics and loved working hard for his family. He had a caring and kind heart and would go the extra mile for his family, friends, and neighbors. He will be remembered by his wife and daughters for his love, dedication, compassion, words of wisdom, and tender heart. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family, friends, and those that knew him.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Victor M. Trejo, Guadalupe Garcia III, Joaquin Garcia, Miguel Trejo III, George Rodriguez, Jesus Ruiz all of Uvalde, Sergio Briones and Jorge Wong of Piedras Negras, Jorge Gutiérrez of Eagle Pass, TX, Sergio Trejo of Mico,TX and José Alberto Garcia of San Antonio, TX.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roman O. Trejo, Diego Ruiz, George Louis Rodriguez, Aidan Garcia, and Miguel R. Trejo all of Uvalde, TX.
