La Pryor

Epifanio Federico Enriquez of La Pryor passed away on March 27, 2020 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. He was born on March 23, 1940 in La Pryor to Epifanio G. and Susana (Garcia) Enriquez. He married Gloria (Bermea) Enriquez on September 13, 1964 in La Pryor.

Fred was a lifelong resident of La Pryor and was married to his late wife for 48 years. Fred was employed with J-W Power Company and worked in the natural gas compression field, where he retired after working for 23 years. He loved to fish and was a member of the Uvalde Bass Club and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow fishermen and spent almost every weekend at the lake or participating in fishing tournaments. Most of all, Fred loved his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Elvira Enriquez and companion, Hector Lara of Knippa, Lisa Salinas and husband, Jose Salinas of La Pryor, and Jessica Salazar and husband, Israel Salazar of La Pryor; Grandchildren, Jennifer Salazar, Ed Salazar, Ashley Salazar, Brian Salazar, Kross Jacquez, Kendrah Flores and Kasandrah Flores; Great Grandchildren, Landon Jackson, Jonah Gonzalez, Gavin Gonzalez, Ky’Ree Andrews and Andrain Briseno; and nephews, Eliseo and Eloy Del Toro. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters and his wife. Graveside services will be held at La Pryor Cemetery on Wednesday April 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.  Pallbearers will be Ed Salazar, Brian Salazar, Kross Jacquez, Hector Lara, Israel Salazar and Jose Salinas. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren and nephews.

Because of the declaration of the state of emergency in Texas and the executive order issued by Gov. Greg Abbott,  Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary will only allow 10 people at a time in their facility.  This can be done in rotating shifts to accommodate families. We thank you for your cooperation at this time of national disaster.

Gone Fishin’

I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.

Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.

We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.

To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’
