Dorothy Everett

Dorothy Everett, 73 of Uvalde, Texas entered eternal rest on March 30, 2020 afternoon of failing health at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  She was born on March 8, 1947 in Damon, Texas.  She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Arnold and Annabell (Stuhrenbeg) Elster; and two brothers, Harold Elster and Glen Elster.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Charles Wayne Everett of Uvalde; daughter, Pamela Garcia and husband, Eugene of Uvalde; son, Brian Borchardt and wife Rebecca of New Braunfels; sisters, Margie Borchardt of Damon, Texas and Barbara Losack of Hondo, Texas; brothers, Arnold Elster and wife, Ruth of Needville, Allen Elster and wife, Helen  of Damon, Texas and David Elster of Damon, Texas; grandchildren,  Payton Allee, Brittany Borchardt, Ethan Borchardt and Bradlee Borchardt; and one great grandson, Henrick Lewis; stepchildren, Larry Everett and Cristy Everett both of Marble Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy graduated from Needville High School.  She raised her children in the Barksdale area while living and working on ranches with her first husband, Gene Borchardt.  She worked at the Marshals Barksdale Grocery Store and at the Barksdale Post Office to make ends meet.  Dorothy later worked for South Star Aircraft Interiors as a seamstress.  She retired when she started fighting an autoimmune disease but remained the best mother, wife and granny you could ever ask for.

Visitation will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Elster, Devin Elster, Jacob Elster, Jeremy Losack, Payton Allee, Billie Martz, David Suarez,and Eugene Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Borchardt and Michael Elster.


Because of the declaration of the state of emergency in Texas and the executive order issued by Gov. Greg Abbott, Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary will only allow 10 people at a time in their facility.  This can be done in rotating shifts to accommodate families. We thank you for your cooperation at this time of national disaster.
