David Peña of Uvalde passed away on June 11, 2022, in San Antonio at the age of 62.

He was born on March 9, 1960, in Uvalde, Texas to Ninfa (Hernandez) and Jose Ismael Peña

David was born and raised in Uvalde by his loving parents, and grew up as the youngest of 4 siblings, David participated in various sports organizations, was a Sahawe dancer and graduated from Uvalde High School in 1979. David then went on to complete the SWTJC Law Enforcement Program. After serving for 20  years in law enforcement, he began his successful lineman career. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an active member of the community serving as a Lion’s club member and as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. David took pride in his Eagle Scouts, as he did with anything he did in life. David loved his family most of all his granddaughters.

He married Kathy Perry on February 14, 2016, in Uvalde and lived their lives full of love for one another

He is survived by his wife of 6 years of Uvalde; daughter, Katherine Gomez and husband, Juan, Jr. of Uvalde; sons, David Peña, Jr. of Crystal City; son, Zachery Pemberton; Dalton Smith, Noah Smith all of Uvalde; sisters, Linda Flores and husband, Ernest of Carrizo Springs and Norma Atkinson and husband, Dennis of Uvalde; grandchildren, Jazzlean Gomez, Aubrey Gomez, Mackenzie Gomez, Aaliya Peña and Mariah Peña; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Pena, Jr.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Pemberton, Dalton Smith, Noah Smith, Steven Perry, Leo Garcia, Eddie Gomez.
