Brad Mullen

March 8, 1949 — March 29, 2022

Brad Coulson Mullen was born in Brownsville, Texas March 8, 1949 and remained a very proud Texan his entire life. He was born to Durward Lacy “D.L.” Mullen and Blanche Virginia Coulson Mullen. Brad was a welcomed surprise to his parents and oldest two siblings, Ron & Lana Beth, as they did not know about Brad’s existence until after the birth of his beloved twin brother, Bruce Gibson Mullen.

The Mullen family moved from Brownsville, Texas to San Antonio when the twins were 2 years old and then to Bangs, Texas in 1963. Brad was a hard worker, even at the age of 14 when he and Bruce would drive an 18-wheeler to assist their dad in his construction business. Brad graduated from Bangs High School where he broke records running track and joined his football team in going to the state championship. He earned a degree in Business from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) where he met and married Nan Woods, the mother of his two children, Coulson and Mendy. After graduating, Brad moved to the Dallas area to join his dad and Bruce in running their family business, Joes Hitch & Trailer. Brad was a successful entrepreneur and businessman, having owned or co-owned 11 businesses and supervising around 1,000 employees throughout his lifetime. He was a broker, real estate developer, and especially enjoyed owning and operating TexasDove.net, as the largest Dove outfitter of north central Texas. He also volunteered in the Lions Club. Brad enjoyed escaping the Texas heat to the family house in Rye, Colorado that he, Bruce, and their father built in 1969.

Brad had a deep love for God and enjoyed learning and memorizing Scripture. He believed that God loved him too. He lived a life of gratitude, regularly giving credit to God for the good things in his life. He also found great joy in being abundantly generous to loved ones and strangers. Brad was aware of his need for a savior and trusted in Jesus for that need.

Brad Coulson Mullen passed away at the age of 73 on March 29, 2022 at his Hill Country home near the Frio River in Concan, Texas with his loving wife, Beverly, caring for him by his side. Brad was preceded in death by his father, D.L.; mother, Blanche; sister, Lana; twin brother, Bruce; niece, Beth Ann; and nephew, Wade. Brad is survived by his wife, Beverly Tucker Mullen; brother, Ron Mullen; son, Coulson Mullen; daughter, Mendy Landreth; son-in-law, Craig Landreth; grandchildren Riley, Aidan, Ali, and Jolie; great-grandson, Jackson; nephew Dan; and nieces, Lacy, Misty, Valerie, Andrea, Heather, and Megan. Brad was blessed to have countless extended family and friends who loved him as well. He will be greatly missed by all, including his cat, Bailey Mullen Tucker.
