Bessie Thompson

November 30, 1939 — November 4, 2022

Uvalde, Texas

Bessie Mae Bishop Thompson was born on November 30, 1939 in Barksdale, Texas. She passed quietly  into Heaven to meet her Creator on November 4, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her Mother, Fannie Ophelia Waddell Bishop,  her Father Ammon LaFayette Bishop, her Brother Raymond Bishop and her Sister, Leona Faye Bishop Dean and her husband David June Dean. She is survived by her Brother David Roy Bishop and his wife Minon.

Bessie Mae is survived by her 4 children. William Mark Perry and his wife Naomi of Valley View, Texas; Linda Sue Walker and her husband Lynn Walker of Uvalde, Texas; Donna Lynn Wimberley and her husband Tommy Wimberley of Uvalde, Texas; and Wanda Mae Williams of Victoria, Texas.

Bessie Mae was blessed with 13 grandchildren. Nathan Perry, Crystal Perry, Starla Magers, Will Magers, Kendall Walker-Schirmer, Langtry Walker, Justin Wimberley, Brandon Wimberley, Bailey Wimberley, Corey Williams, Coby Williams, River Yarbrough and McKenaYarbrough. Additionally she has 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bessie Mae was best known for her love of dancing,  fishing, being at the river, and most of all, her love of watching the PBR Bull riding. She knew who all the top riders were, their rankings each year on their way to the Las Vegas finals, and she would even bet on who would win.  In her last years she was a resident at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehab where she found another family who loved her and took excellent care of her. Bessie Mae loved her outings to visit Maggie Diaz to get her hair done, and Dora Hanson to get her manicures and pedicures. They too are considered her extended family.

Bessie Mae was a hoot, she lived life on her terms, and had no problem telling you her thoughts.

Mom you are loved and you will be missed… until we see you again.
