Zulema Ortegon Trejo of Uvalde went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2020 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her family that she dearly loved. She was born on July 28, 1934 in Villa de Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico to Fernando and Maria (Flores) Ortegon.
She married the love of her life, Miguel M. Trejo on July 7, 1954 in Villa de Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico.
She was a hardworking and dignified woman with strong morals and values that she taught to her children. She loved everyone unconditionally and welcomed everyone with open arms. She enjoyed cooking savory and delicious meals for her children and grandchildren. Zulema also enjoyed taking care of her plants. She was a woman of God who had great faith in Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her tender love and care never failed to comfort those who surrounded her. She led her family with great patience, kindness and grace.
She is survived by her daughters, Alma Yolanda Garcia and Sulema Medina and husband, Felipe all of Uvalde; sons, Miguel R. Trejo, Jr. and wife, Blanca, Victor M. Trejo and wife, Imelda and Roman O. Trejo all of Uvalde; sisters, Cleotilde Padilla and Maria de Jesus Ortegon both of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; 9 grandchildren, Guadalupe T. Garcia, III, Joaquin T. Garcia, Alma Y. Rodriguez, Victoria R. Ruiz all of Uvalde, Sara G. Trejo of San Antonio, Miguel Trejo III, Fernando T. Trejo, Kimberly M. Medina, and Danielle N. Medina all of Uvalde; and 13 great grandchildren.
Special thanks to her caregiver, Maria Puente that gave her affection and special care.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Raul O. Trejo, sister, Maria Mauricio; brothers, Enrique Flores, Ramon Ortegon and Guillermo Ortegon;and son in law, Guadalupe R. Garcia, Jr.
Visitation will begin on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A rosary will be held on Thursday and Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Victor M. Trejo, Roman O. Trejo, Felipe Medina, Guadalupe T. Garcia, III Joaquin T. Garcia, Miguel Trejo, III George Rodriguez and Jesus Ruiz.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Miguel Trejo, Jr. and Fernando T. Trejo.
