Wendell Lee Ray, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at his residence in Uvalde, Texas with his family. 

He was born on June 17, 1940, in Elmo, Missouri, to Lodell and Thelma Ecker Ray and dedicated many years of his life to his teaching career, landscaping and family businesses.

Wendell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lonnette Ray; and their son, Jeff Ray; 2 daughters, Kristi Hardesty and husband Rod Hardesty of Uvalde, and Wendy Wyatt; two grandchildren, Alex Lavenue and Tessa Hardesty; two brothers, Roland Ray and Duane Ray; one sister, Darlene Evans; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wendell graduated from Northwest Missouri State University where he played basketball and tennis on scholarship. Wendell loved the outdoors and spending time with his beloved horses, dogs, and other animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lodell and Thelma Ecker Ray, as well as his brother, Marland Ray.

His passing has left a void in their lives, but they find comfort in the warmth of the memories shared with him and the love he imparted as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
