Wayne McCutchen, a dedicated husband, stepfather, and grandfather, passed away on June 8, 2025, at his residence in Uvalde, Texas. He was born on February 7, 1947, in Uvalde, Texas, where he spent his formative years before moving to Brownsville, Texas.
Wayne graduated from high school in Uvalde and pursued higher education at a local college. However, his academic journey was interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he honorably served as a Vietnam War veteran. His military service instilled in him a strong sense of duty and service, exemplified later in his career as a mounted patrol inspector employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). In this role, he patrolled the U.S.-Mexico border along the Rio Grande in Texas, a position that highlighted his commitment to his country and community.
Wayne's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 49 years, Francine L. McCutchen. He is also survived by two stepsons and their spouses: Fredrick Cordova and Gloria of Falfurrias, and Michael J. Cordova and Alice of Cypress. Wayne took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Connor Cordova, Marina Cordova, and Joe Cordova, providing them with guidance and support throughout their lives.
In addition to his immediate family, Wayne is survived by his brother, Weldon Jr., and his wife Linda; his sister, Starr Ivy; and his brother David McCutchen, and his wife Nancy. He cherished his connections with numerous nieces and nephews, who will also remember him fondly.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Weldon McCutchen and Josephine, as well as his sister, Jakelynn Davidson. His life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to family, country, and community. Wayne will be remembered for his service, his strong moral values, and the love he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
