Wayne Cameron Dennis

Wayne Cameron Dennis age 66, was born July 25, 1960 in Crystal City, Texas and passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026. He was the son of Earl Cameron and Pernia Elizabeth Dennis.

He attended both the Crystal City Public School and then later the Crystal Community School at the First Baptist Church of Crystal City. Wayne graduated from Uvalde High School in 1978.

In his early years Wayne was diagnosed with Dystonia Musculorum Deformans; a movement disorder that affected his muscles and took away his ability to walk by the time he was in Junior High.

In spite of his disease, he and his family stayed involved in the church and community life of Crystal City and then later in Uvalde, TX.

After graduation, Wayne went to work at the Janey Briscoe Sheltered Workship where he helped manufacture candles and remained a valued employee until he retired.

Wayne loved sports. He loved and followed all sports but especially loved football. He closely followed the Uvalde Coyotes High School team and attended many of their games. During those years he became quite good at predicting outcomes of the high school as well as NFL games and won prizes from the Uvalde Leader News for his accurate predictions on several occasions.

Wayne also enjoyed video games, coloring, and leather projects for a time and was technologically savvy. He loved the music of the 1980’s and used to listen to audio books.

Wayne always did as much as he could until his disease took the ability away from him. Even then, he was always concerned about doing what he could and having a purpose in life.

As much as the whole family took care of Wayne, he was also taking care of us. Not only was Wayne a constant inspiration with his great outlook on life, he was also the glue that held our family together. We were always stronger as a family because of Wayne.

Wayne is survived by a brother, Robert Alan Dennis and sister, Nancy Elizabeth Chisum and his brother in law, Gene Chisum II, nephews, Martin Manry and his wife Elvira Manry and their children Lily and Madison, Gene Chisum III and his wife Melissa and their children Grant and Macie, and niece Jade Elizabeth-Reynolds Chisum.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Earl Cameron Dennis and Pernia Elizabeth Dennis and one sister, Vivian Lee Manry.
