Trudy Lee Foster

Trudy Lee Foster, lovingly known as “Maw Maw,” 78, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away on August 12, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, surrounded by the love of a family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Trudy was born on September 10, 1947, in Arma, Kansas, to Mary Ann (Deboutez) and Hugh McGill. On August 4, 1976, she married the love of her life, Glen Foster, in Pampa, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, family, and service, recently celebrating 50 years of marriage.

To those who loved her most, Trudy was simply Maw Maw—a name that represented so much more than grandmother. She was a source of comfort, encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love. Her greatest joy was found in her family, and the love she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter was immeasurable. She had a way of making those around her feel cared for, and the lessons, traditions, and memories she leaves behind will continue through the generations she loved so dearly.

Trudy also possessed a heart for serving others and a deep desire to make a difference beyond her own home and community. During the time she and Glen lived in Africa, she participated in mission work, an experience that reflected the compassion and generosity with which she lived her life.

One ministry especially dear to Trudy's heart was Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child. For many years, she faithfully prepared shoeboxes filled with gifts for children around the world. To Trudy, they were far more than boxes—they were opportunities to share kindness, hope, joy, and God's love with a child she may never meet. It was a ministry she treasured, and one that beautifully represents the giving spirit by which she will be remembered.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Glen Foster of Uvalde, Texas; son, Seth Lane Foster and wife, Sherrilleta, of Flint, Texas; daughter, Amanda Beth Foster of Fort Smith, Arkansas; brother, Shawn Goodman and wife, Darla, of Pampa, Texas; four granddaughters, Taytelan Freeman and Ashlan Freeman, both of Fort Smith, and Sydney Foster and Anistyn Foster, both of Flint; and great-granddaughter, Karrington Freeman of Fort Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ann (Deboutez) and Hugh McGill; sister, Paula Ivey; and brother, Patrick McGill.

A memorial service celebrating Trudy's life will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Uvalde.

Cremation is under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child, continuing a ministry that Trudy held close to her heart for so many years.

Though her family will deeply miss hearing her voice, seeing her smile, and simply having Maw Maw near, the love she gave so freely remains. Her legacy lives on in her family, in every life touched by her kindness, and in every act of generosity inspired by the way she lived.

Maw Maw was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
