Tomas G. Cruz Jr., age 57, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2026. He was born on May 14, 1969, in Uvalde to Tomas and Pabla Cruz.
Tomas will be remembered for the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of those around him. He treasured spending time with his family, especially during gatherings filled with conversation, laughter, and togetherness. In his free time, Tomas enjoyed playing video games and working on cars, a passion that allowed him to use his hands, creativity, and natural curiosity.
Throughout much of his adult life, Tomas worked as a cook at several local establishments, where he shared his talents and strong work ethic with his community. He later stepped away from the food industry to take on one of the most meaningful roles of his life—devoting himself fully to the care of his father. His selflessness, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his family reflected the depth of his loving heart.
Tomas was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Tomas and Pabla Cruz, and his brother, Andres Cruz.
He is survived by his loving siblings, Maria Carolina Bonds and husband, Keith; Alicia Contreras and husband, Fausto; Rosalinda Gonzales and husband, Max; Guadalupe Banks; Pabla Wickliff and husband, Patrick; Marta Turnbow; and Anastacio Cruz and wife, Christine.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Although Tomas will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he will be laid to rest beside the parents he loved and cared for so dearly. His kindness, devotion, and joyful spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both evenings.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde. Interment will follow immediately after Mass, where Tomas will be laid to rest beside his parents.
