Sue was born May 7th, 1935 to Oscar and Pauline (Thornton) Pitts in the small community of Groesbeck, Texas. Sue attended school in Groesbeck and began her college studies at the age of 16 at Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas. She graduated with a teaching degree and went on to obtain a Masters in Education. While working on her degree in Huntsville, she met and eventually married the love of her life and best friend, Robert (Bob) Baldwin. They married in Groesbeck on August 17th, 1957. They had one daughter in 1959.
Following teaching stints in Cleveland, Spring, Edinburg, and San Benito, the family moved to Uvalde in 1964. She taught English and Business classes at Uvalde High School until 1972, then she began teaching Business Administration classes at Southwest Texas Junior College until her retirement in 1991.

Sue loved teaching and her students, she had so many fond memories of them. She enjoyed social events, playing cards (bridge in particular) and dominos with friends, traveling, and going on cruises. Sue was an avid sports fan, particularly where the Atlanta Braves were concerned. She was an accomplished cook and served many a wonderful meal and dessert; her care for and generosity to family and friends was demonstrated in various ways that few knew about.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Pitts; her mother, Pauline Pitts Barfield; and her sister, Jeanie Brown.
