Sara O Pérez,(Sarita) 94, resident of Uvalde, Texas passed away quietly in her home on Thursday June 25th 2026.
She was born in Blewett, Texas in 1931.
On February 10th 1952, she married Manuel P. Pérez at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She and Manuel had 10 children. All her children attended Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Sara, a devout catholic worked tirelessly along side her husband to raise a family with Christian principles. Sarita and Manuel were pillars of their community; modeled hard work, community service, and faith in God.
Sarita’s interests included her participation in La Vela Perpetua and El Movimiento Familiar. As a catechist she educated many children in their faith preparing them for their First Holy Communion at the San José Center. Her green thumb served her well when growing many plants for sale at the annual church fundraising Jamaicas.
Her involvement in the community consisted of serving as a volunteer in PTO activities and working in the city’s polling places during elections.
She will be remembered by those who knew her as a beautiful, kind, strong, loving soul full of grace and wisdom, who poured her love and faith into her family.
Sarita is survived by 9 of her 10 children, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Listed in chronological order are: Elvia O. Pérez of MIssion Texas , José Manuel Pérez of Mission Texas , Celina Pérez of Uvalde , Joel Pérez preceded her in death , Andrea Judith Pérez of San Antonio , Carla Mónica Pérez of Kingsbury, Sara Miriam Pérez of Uvalde, Texas and her Sister Lilia Olvera of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico nephew Joe A. Martinez of Laguna Beach, California
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 1 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Uvalde Catholic Cemetery.
