Rosa Martinez

Rosa V. Martinez of San Antonio, formerly of Uvalde went to be with Our Lord on January 16, 2021 at the age of 77. She was born on August 19, 1943 in Uvalde to Francisco and Refugia (Tobias) Velasquez.

She married her sweetheart Pilar “Pilo” R. Martinez in Uvalde on November 23, 1961. Together they raised 3 daughters and one son of which they are survived by; Patricia Guevara of Uvalde, Dora Castillo and husband, Jaime of Uvalde and Raquel Trevino and husband, Mark of Devine and Joe Martinez and wife Monica of Knippa. Blessings followed with 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Pilo went on to paradise ahead of her in 2003 where he awaited her along with her parents, 2 great grand babies, and 4 brothers Jorge, Luis, Francisco and Jose Velasquez.

Rosa will be greatly missed by her loving, caring companion, Tanislado Alvarado of 8 yrs of San Antonio.

She will be greatly missed by her family for her delicious cooking and baking, for her contagious laugh, her tender words of wisdom and understanding, her warm hugs, but most of all her loving caring heart and going above and beyond for her family.

Rosa is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rene Garza, Jose Martinez Jr., Aidan Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Christopher James Castillo and Jon Pierre Gonzales.
