Richard Galen Weber

August 6, 1948 — September 27, 2025

Uvalde

R. Galen Weber, 77, of Uvalde, Texas, owner of Weber Construction, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Christus Santa Rosa due to a severe reaction to chemotherapy.

Galen had a deep love of all things mechanical since early childhood. Starting at age 2 Galen would go with his father to the farm outside of Cotulla, eventually operating the tractor at age 10. During a holiday reunion, when Galen was 8, he asked if he could work on a tractor that wasn’t working. Before the day was done, he had the tractor running.

Galen enjoyed living and working in Uvalde. He started SWTJC in 1967. He attained a degree in farm and ranch management. Eventually he started Weber Construction. Throughout his 58 years he gave back to the community participating in the yearly Christmas lighting (his men enjoyed stringing lights on his caterpillars), sponsoring children’s sports teams, and doing the dirt work for the soccer field and Herby Ham center. Weber Construction was vetted Business of the Year in 2025.

Galen thought highly of all his operators and employees, especially Sandy Henandez, his office manager and right hand for many years.

Galen was a one-of-a-kind man and “good ole boy” in the best sense of the term. His word was his bond. He enjoyed talking to everyone. He also enjoyed hunting, his bird dogs, and taking his grandsons and nephews for tractor rides.

Galen was a dedicated member of the Earthmoving Contractors Association of Texas (ECAT)  and proudly served as its president from 1999 to 2001.

Galen was pre-deceased by his parents, W. Richard and Linda Saathoff Weber, Marilyn, his wife of 28 years, and Jo, his fiancé of 10 years.

Galen is survived by brother Jim Weber (Carolyn) of Oklahoma, City, sister Susan Goodman (Alvin) of Mart, Texas, stepchildren Sherlyn Bourne (Todd Sutherland) of Karnack, Texas , Tammy Bammert (Kevin) of New Braunfels, Kevin Crowsey (Tammy) of Yancey, Texas and Jo’s children Kelly Archambault (Shawn) of Sabinal and Steven Daberko of Rio Medina, Texas. He also has numerous grandchildren, nephews, grand nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
