Richard Casey Koehl

Richard Casey Koehl, 49, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2023 at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Casey was born on June 13, 1974 to Rose and Dr. Milton Koehl in Uvalde, Texas. After Casey graduated from Uvalde High School in 1992, he went on to study at Texas A&M University.

After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness and attending graduate school at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, he started his first job at First State Bank of Uvalde as an asset inspector. Following his time with the Bank, he worked as a yard manager for Tierra Lease Services. After his tenure with Tierra Lease Services, Casey worked as a heavy equipment operator with 5K Services. Casey then discovered his talent and love of farming while working for Crawford Farms.

In 2005, Casey met the love of his life, Daneane at a team roping at the San Antonio Rose Palace. Casey and Daneane went on to have many adventures across Texas and all of North America after settling into their home in Uvalde.

Casey was a tireless worker, advocate and volunteer for the youth of Uvalde County and all of South Texas. Casey was a former officer and past president of the Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club. His service stemmed from his years of rodeo competition as a youth and his desire to help guide the next generation of rodeo competitors. Casey was the former horse show superintendent for the Uvalde County Junior Livestock Show and was a member of the Livestock Committee for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

With his quick wit, sly smile and infectious personality, Casey made friends wherever he went. A stranger was just someone who Casey hadn't had a chance to visit with yet. Once the conversation started and pleasantries had been established Casey would make an indelible impression on his newest friend.

Casey is preceded in death by his mother, Rose G. Koehl, grandparents Mary Addilea and H. Charles Koehl, Jr., Pearl Elizabeth and Richard H. Gilliam. He is survived by his loving and patient wife of 14 years Daneane, father Dr. Milton Koehl and step-mother Linda, brother Grady and his wife Mandy, and brother Carlos, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.

A Celebration Life will be held at the Uvalde Fairplex Event Center on August 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club, P.O. Box 5414, Uvalde, TX 78802  in his name.
