Raymond Warner Scott

Raymond Warner Scott (Ray) was born on January 20, 1944 to William James Scott and Lily Ann (Mitchell) Scott.

Ray graduated from Uvalde HIgh School in 1962 and married his High School Sweetheart, Kay (Burks) Scott on December 24, 1960 and were married for 65 years. During their marriage they had three children, Oldest Daughter, Nardys Kay Scott (Ruiz), One son, Ray Allen Scott and their youngest daughter, Barbara Dee Ann Scott.

Ray was an avid Outdoorsman throughout his entire life and he truly loved and lived for every chance he could get to go Hunting, Fishing,Trapping and teaching everyone from friends to family everything that he knew until he was no longer able to due to illness.

He loved to tell his many stories especially about his job experience with his first job as a young father working as a personal caregiver for Former Vice President, John Nance Garner. He loved to tell the stories of that man and the many experiences he went through caring for him for three memorable years before starting his final job as a Route Manager with Texas Industrial Services (now Unifirst) moving up years later as Route Manager and then before retiring at the age of 55 he was the District Service Manager after 35 years of service.

Ray was a great storyteller and could talk for hours about his hunting and fishing trips that were shared with his buddies that all passed away long before him. He even wrote a book titled “The Greedy Gringos Of Uvalde County” that is full of humor, and hilarious stories about his Outdoors adventures and life experiences with his buddies on his trips. It is such a good book that you just can’t put it down before finishing it and wanting to read more. The book was just like him, voicing his opinions in which he “never’ held back on. In fact, there is so much more to tell about Ray but not enough room to add without writing another book.

Ray is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kay Scott (Burks), 1 son, Ray Allen Scott and 2 daughters, Nardys Scott(Ruiz)(Albert) and Barbara Dee Ann Scott (Justin). He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, Nicole Locker Chapa (Mike), Danielle Marie Locker, Tristiana Ruiz, Jeremy Robichaux (Haley) US Army UAV Crew Chief Specialist Savannah Georgia, Amanda Allyne Scott Zamudio (John), Brianna Marie Scott Leydon (Thomas) and Jared Ray Scott US Navy Active Duty Seaman USS Mason Operations Specialist and 6 Great Grandchildren, Everly Lehmann, Evan Robichaux, Ethan Miguel Chapa, Ashton Thomas Chapa, Wilson Leydon and Watson Leydon.

Ray will be remembered and missed by his family as a man who had a Big Heart and was very Sentimental underneath his tough exterior and would give a helping hand to anyone in need .

A memorial service will be held at Rushing-Estes Knowles on December 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception following at the Scott residence located at 1208 CR 369, Uvalde, Texas.
