Raymond Eddie Schwarzlose

Raymond Eddie Schwarzlose passed away peacefully at his home on December 18, 2025, with his loving wife and sons by his side.

Raymond was born on October 19, 1937, in Guadalupe County, Texas, in the Zorn Community, to Erhard Schwarzlose and Hilda (Scholl) Schwarzlose, both of whom preceded him in death. He was baptized on September 21, 1945, and later confirmed on May 12, 1952, at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Geronimo, Texas, where his faith was established and guided his life. He attended Dietert Elementary School and Seguin High School. On September 4, 1960, he married Gloria Schneider, beginning a devoted and loving marriage that spanned more than six decades.

A man deeply devoted to his family, faith, and community, Raymond coached Little League baseball in Pleasanton, Poteet, and Uvalde, served as a 4-H volunteer, and was highly active in church life. He served on church councils in both Jourdanton and Knippa, taught Vacation Bible School, and was a longtime helper at the annual Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Knippa Chicken Supper, where he assisted with barbecuing and handcrafted many wooden crosses for the Country Store.

Raymond worked for Central Power and Light Company as a lineman for 28 years, from 1965 until his retirement in 1994. He spent so many hours, regardless of the time or weather conditions, to make sure families were provided with power as soon as possible. He also proudly served his country in the Texas National Guard for nine years.

Raymond was a gifted handyman who enjoyed woodworking projects and was known for his ability to fix almost anything. He especially treasured time spent with his family and found great joy in babysitting his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Gloria; his sons Gary (Jody), and Reagan Ray (Peggy); six grandchildren - Garlyn (Alec), Scott (Carissa), Zane (Alicia), Brett, Tori (Taylor), and Barrett; and eight great-grandchildren – Tony, Lily, Charlee, Cason, John Raymond, Arthur, Addi, and Andi. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lucille Schwarzlose, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a huge group of friends.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his two sisters and six brothers.

The family would like to thank Juan Quintanilla, Rose Gonzalez, and Billy and Lisa Wagner and Henry Jimenez for their care of Raymond over the past months.
