Ray Milton Langford

November 6, 1945 — September 3, 2025

Uvalde Texas

Ray Milton Langford of Uvalde went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2025 at the age of 79.

He was born on November 6, 1945 in Uvalde to Woodrow and Doris (Patterson) Langford.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2205 at 10 a.m. at Getty St. Church of Christ in Uvalde, Texas.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

He married his high school sweetheart Lynda Langford on May 29, 1970 in Uvalde.

After Lynda’s passing he married Janie Hunt on October 23, 2023.

Ray graduated from Uvalde High School and Texas A&I University . He was on the college rodeo team, where he competed in calf roping. Later, as he got older, he would compete and win buckles in goat roping. He began his career as a coach and school teacher, which he did for 10 years. Many of his former athletes still called him coach when they would see him. His love for the ranch finally called him to leave coaching and become a fulltime rancher, a job from which he never retired. Ray was very active in serving God and others. He and Lynda were even the youth ministers at the Concan Church of Christ for some time. The Lord brought Ray and Janie together late in life. They had many adventures together, including Christmas cruises and trips to Cabo and Costa Rica. He enjoyed sitting on their new porch in the morning with Janie and watching the axis deer.

Ray is survived by his wife Janie of Uvalde, son Matt Langford and wife Andrea of Rowlett; grandson Jake Langford; granddaughter Amy Langford; daughter Betsy Hunt Mutchler and husband Dave of the community of Sodville; son Brackston Hunt and wife Lahni of Elaine, AR, granddaughter Hazel Hunt, grandson Harvey Hunt, sister Janet Jackson and husband Jim of Rio Frio, brother-in-law and sister in-law Jerry and Suella Howard of Mesquite, sister-in-law Lindy Howard of Buda, sister-in-law and brother-inlaw Suzanne and Larry Stein of Austin and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lynda, his parents and his sister Jean Rutledge.

Ray loved riding around on the ranch with his dog Sadie, checking on the cows, talking to the hunters, running his bulldozer, drinking coffee with the Casa Blanca Coffee Group and grabbing lunch and supper at Neal’s. He was one of the last real cowboys and he will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will be Jake Langford, Jim Jackson, Kenneth White, Greg Robinson, Brackston Hunt, Dave Mutchler.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny McFadin, Dick Peterson, and R.L. Sutherland.
