Randy was raised in Bermis, South Dakota by his parents Edward and Verda Wiekamp, along with his siblings Darol, William, Brenda, Virgil, and Carol.
Randy met and married the love of his life Kathy in 1980. They found their forever home in Utopia, Texas in 1990 and there, together, they would raise four sons. Randy grew up around farming and ranching in South Dakota. His love for animals, particularly exotics, began when he took a job at a ranch in Utopia. There he found his passion for exotic animals and continued caring for them throughout the rest of his life. He often included family members on his adventures. It became a career he and his wife would build together.
Randy never met a stranger. His warm embracing hug and smile was welcomed anywhere he went. He made any young adult feel like they were his own and every child felt like they were his own grandchild. Randy walked around with a light to spread, it was who he was. Randy and Kathy raised four amazing sons and were blessed with nine grandchildren, which he adored beyond words. Riding around on his mule with them was always a pleasure for him, it brought him joy to bring a smile to his grandchildren’s faces. No was never an answer when it came to those babies. Randy was your perfect family man. He along with his wife of 45 years, left a mark on the importance of family and on the significance of loving those whom love you. He will be greatly missed by the tight knit community he raised his family in.
Randy is survived by his wife, Kathy of 45 years; brother, Virgil Weikamp of Minnesota; sister, Carol Newell of Louisiana; son, Joshua (Kathleen) Wiekamp of Utopia; son, Jared (Meagen) Wiekamp of Utopia; son, Joseph (Madison) Wiekamp of Utopia. 9 grandchildren who adored him. Taylor, Emily, Hartley, Madi, Olivia, Ian, Waylon, Asher, and Heidi; and many nieces and nephews.
Randy is preceded in death by his son, Sgt Jeffrey Scott Wiekamp; parents, Edward & Verda Wiekamp; brothers, Darol & William; and sister, Brenda Muston.
