Ramon Garcia, Sr.

With heavy hearts the family of Ramon Garcia, Sr of Uvalde, Texas announces his passing on July 17, 2026 at his residence at the age of 92. He was a cherished part of his family and leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories.

He was born on November 22, 1933 in D’Hanis to Atilano Garcia and Juanita Gallegos.

He married Diana Gomez on April 21, 2017 in Uvalde. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosita Aguilar, after 60 years of marriage.

Ramon proudly served in the in the United States Army. He enlisted in December 1957 and was honorably discharged in November 1961. A dedicated and hardworking man, he was the owner and operator of Sun Ray Cleaning Company for 51 years. Additionally, he worked at many local businesses such as Williamson Dickie, John Deere, First State Bank, Uvalde Bank, and retired from Southwest Texas Junior College in 1998. Although he retired, he continued to run his business until recently.

Ramon was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed very much. He is survived by his wife, Diana, his daughter Gema Hernandez and husband, Moses, stepson Paul Michael Castillo, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Garcia all of Uvalde. He was a proud grandfather to Lauren Smith and husband, Brandon Smith and Nathan Garcia and fiancée Genevieve Coovrey and great grandfather to Brett Smith. He is survived by two sisters, Ernestina Montalvo and Josie Rodriguez and a brother, Henry Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ramon was also preceded in death by his son, Sonny Garcia, as well as his parents, brothers, and sisters.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde on July 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.
