Paula Christine Gilleland

Paula Christine Gilleland, 78, of Sabinal, Texas passed away on September 21, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born on July 9, 1948, in Uvalde, Texas to Roberta (Hobbs) and Paul Irvin Gass Sr.

She married Leslie Gilleland on September 21, 1968, in Sabinal, Texas.

She retired after a fulfilling career as a phlebotomist. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing bingo and bunco, and spending time with those she loved. She was happily married for 58 years, and her greatest joy was her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were truly her world. She treasured every moment spent with them and created many beautiful memories that will be lovingly remembered by her family for years to come. One of her favorite sayings was "A bushel and a peck".

She is survived by her husband Leslie Gilleland of Sabinal; daughter, Shea Gilleland of Sabinal; son, Wesley Gilleland of Sabinal; 11 grandchildren, Robbie Rodriguez, III, Paige Gilleland, Hailey Gilleland, Karlee Contreras, Kamryn Ameit, Joseph Contreras, Memphis Gilleland, Julianna Contreras, Dillon Cuppes, Leslie Cuppes, and Leann Cuppes; 19 great grandchildren, Aubri Rodriguez, Lailee Rodriguez, Kay-Kay Rodriguez, Baylin Martinez, Kayden Jones, Payten Gilleland, Ella Wilson, Robbie Rodriguez, IV, Zayden Rodriguez, Tripp Wilson, Jaime Borrego, Hunter Cuppes, Kinslee Cuppes, Oaklynn Cuppes, Taitum Santillano, Tilden Cuppes, Temple Cuppes, Ian Wiekamp, and Hartley Cuppes and one on the way; numerous, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Gass, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Sabinal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sabinal Cemetery Association.
