Patty Fuller Driskill

Patty Fuller Driskill, of Sabinal, Texas, passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 95. Patty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, community leader and rock collector who went to be with her Heavenly Father and to reunite with many family members, friends and John, her beloved husband of 57 years.

She was born on November 24, 1930, to Dailey and Elsie Fuller in Encinal, Texas. She attended school early on in Encinal, ultimately graduating from Cotulla High School in 1947. She went on to attend and graduate from Sul Ross State University in Alpine. She had many fond memories there and thoroughly enjoyed going back to Alpine any chance she could. While at Sul Ross she met her husband, John, and they were married in Encinal on August 15, 1953.

After graduating from Sul Ross, she started teaching in Encinal and then continued teaching in Sabinal after her marriage, first as a home economics teacher, and then for many years as an elementary teacher. She retired from teaching in 1992 after 33 years. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated teacher who loved children of all ages.

She was actively involved in community activities, serving as a member of the Sabinal Civic Club, Auxiliary Volunteer at Uvalde Memorial Hospital, Uvalde Honey Bees (a square dancing club), and South Texas Cattlewomen's Association. She and John enjoyed square dancing and traveling, but her true passion outside of her family and teaching was arrowhead and rock hunting that started in her early years on the ranch in Encinal. She joined John on many ranch trips where she would spend hours by herself while he worked, searching for rocks and arrowheads to bring back to Sabinal.

Patty’s greatest joy was her family. She truly reveled in the time she spent with them. Each generation became her favorite. She is survived by her son, George Driskill, and his wife, Karen, of Sabinal; her grandchildren, Mindy Hegi and her husband, Tom, of Fort Worth, John Driskill and his wife, Trish, of Sabinal, Robin Driskill of Junction, and Marlayna Winters and her husband, Greg, of New Braunfels; her great-grandchildren, Jake Hegi and Will Hegi of Fort Worth, Lola Kate Driskill and June Driskill of Sabinal, Zane Hale and Wilson Hale of Fredericksburg, and Mason Winters and Blair Winters of New Braunfels, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Patty is preceded in death by her husband, John Driskill; her parents, Dailey and Elsie Fuller; her son, Robert Driskill; her daughter, Ruth Ann Driskill; her sister, Mary Elsie (Mickey) Fuller; her brothers, Thomas Dailey Fuller, Jr., Jean Fuller, and Albert Marvin Fuller, Sr.

A time of visitation with the family will be held at the Sabinal Methodist Church at 1:00pm on Sunday August 16th, followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm with refreshments and fellowship immediately following in the Annex of the Sabinal Methodist Church. The family will have a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Sabinal Methodist Church, PO Box 327, Sabinal, Texas; or Sabinal Cemetery Association, PO Box 94.
