Mary Jean Farr Lilie, of Sabinal, passed away on 8/21/2026 at the age of 89. She was born on December 17, 1936 in Uvalde, Texas to Joseph Turner and Lillie Mae Tillotson.She married her first husband Harry Farr in 1955. He preceeded her in death in 1982. In 1989 she married Edwin Lillie Jr. who passed away in 2007. She is also preceded in death by daughter Norma Matheny, daughter-in-law Nan Farr, and siblings Laura Mae Estes, J. E. Turner and Madelyn Speights.Mary Jean is survived by sister Lola Sheedy, son Calvin Farr of Spring Branch, son-in-law Jerry Matheny of Corpus Christi, daughters Faye Meyer (Richard) of College Station, Nelda Hicks (Robert) of Medina, and Cindy Moore (Roger) of Sabinal as well as Edwin’s children Edwin Lilie III, Debbie Sullivan, and J. R. Clark. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Bernadette Gugliotti, Harry Farr, Marissa Farr, Brittany DeVos, Katie Shotts, Carissa Lorance, Landon Meyer, Joshua Hicks, Eric Hicks, Nicole Moore, Olin Moore and 22 great grandchildren.Mary Jean was a lifelong resident of Sabinal where she worked with many friends at Sabinal Elementary as a teachers aide for 24 years. She loved Sabinal and supported her community.She was a member of Sabinal Methodist church and was actively involved over the years in many ministries. Her greatest legacy is having assured her children heard the gospel throughout their formative years.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Sabinal Methodist church with a reception to follow. A private family burial is planned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sabinal Methodist Church or Vanderpool Cemetery Association.The family cannot express enough gratitude to Erica Ramos, Rose Ramos, and Mari Cantu who lovingly cared for Mary Jean in her final days. We would also like to thank the staff of Uvalde Hospice, 214 Martin, and The Veranda.
