Mary W. Hill, a life-long resident of South Texas, passed away on February 16, 2021 in Houston, Texas at the age of 98. She was born Mary Louise Wright on April 18, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas to Pearl M. (Couser) and Harlie West Wright and raised in Charlotte and Big Foot, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her dearest friend and husband of over 63 years Thomas Comer "T.C." Hill Jr. of Uvalde, Texas.
She is survived by her son Col.(R) Thomas Comer "Tom" Hill III and wife Sondra of Orlando, Florida and previous surviving spouse Sandy Hill of Prince George, Virginia; and son Mike Hill and wife Jeanie of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren Jeff Hill of Prince George, Virginia, Dina Hill of Richmond, Virginia, and Garry Brian Hill of Union, Ohio, Kenneth & Brent McLacklan of Orlando, Florida, PFC Michelle Hill of Ft. Gordon, Georgia, Jason Gregory of Tyler, Texas, and Clayton Gregory of Houston, Texas; plus numerous great-grandchildren.
Following her graduation from Southwest Texas State, she began a forty-plus year career teaching elementary school children in Crystal City and Big Wells, Texas. She greatly enjoyed teaching and developed life-long relationships with her students. She and her husband, T.C., loved spending their summer days working and relaxing on their family plot on the Sabinal River in Utopia, Texas as well as exploring the back roads of central Mexico.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal, Texas with interment to follow at the Sabinal Cemetery off of US Hwy 90.
In lieu of flowers and in recognition of their mother's lifelong love of books and reading, the family asked that you consider making a donation in her memory to El Progresso Memorial Library in Uvalde, Texas.
