Maria "Tita" E. Martinez

Maria E. “Tita” Martinez, 73, of Uvalde passed away on November 22, 2023, at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

She was born on March 3, 1950, in Uvalde, Texas to Leandra (Menchaca) and Pablo Cruz. 

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Heintzelman and husband, Jarod of Knippa; son, Michael Anthony Hill of Uvalde; sister, Sulema Guzman and husband, Freddy of Ft. Worth; brother, Sotero Martinez and wife, Cheryl of Ardmore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Bethany Rubio, Samantha Rubio, Ray Rubio, III, David Martinez, Jr., Leslie Martinez, and Jayce Paradeaux, Michael Hill, and Donavon Hill; great grandchildren, Kaylee Tenberg, Rylee Tenberg, Sofia Rubio, Aiden Gomez, Jesse Perez, Jr., Jordan Martinez, Harmony Martinez, and Jenay Castillo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, David Martinez; and sister, Alicia Castro. 

Visitation will begin on Sunday, Dec 3, 2023 at 2 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Dec 4, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Uvalde Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Rubio, III, Hector Gomez, Jr., Ryan Tenberg, Jacob Gomez, Mark Lara, and Jacinto De La Garza, III.
