Maria Alvarado

Maria Luisa P. Alvarado of La Pryor passed away on December 7, 2021 at her residence at the age of 81. She was born on May 18, 1940 in La Pryor to Bernardo and Locadia (Acuna) Pargas.

She married Gilberto Alvarado in La Pryor on November 12, 1957.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana Alvarado of Florida, and Rosalinda Canales and husband, Alejandro of Uvalde; sons, Gilberto Alvarado Jr. and wife, Maria, of Illinois, Ricardo Alvarado and wife, Dalia of La Pryor and Luis Alvarado and wife, Valerie of San Antonio; 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Monica Najera, Leonor Pargas, Lupe Casarez and Elvira Rangel; and brothers, Bentura Pargas, Mariano Pargas, Ramon Pargas, and Gregorio Pargas.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in La Pryor.  Interment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Luis Alvarado, Melanie Alvarado, Ricardo Alvarado, Jr., Gilberto Alvarado III, Alexander Canales Jr., Angel Canales, Ethen Ramos and Venessa Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Ricardo B. Alvarado Sr., Benjamin Hernandez and Dominic Hernandez.
