On May 7, 2025, Marcella Rambie Spurgeon of San Antonio passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She would have turned 91 later this month. She was born in Center Point, Tx to Marcellus Rambie and Frances Thomason Rambie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10 am to 2 p.m. with a funeral service on the same day at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Interment will follow at Uvalde Cemetery.
She moved with her family to Uvalde in Junior High and graduated from Uvalde High school where she was a drum Majorette in the band and was a part of 4Hclub with raising and showing animals. She worked at First State Bank of Uvalde for 30 years and became Assistant Vice President of the Note Department. She loved bowling, needle point, golfing, and playing the piano and organ. She loved music and it was a big port of her life. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Uvalde.
She and her husband Sam, moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas when she retired and loved golfing, dancing, and going on cruises. They later moved to San Antonio to be closer to family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcellus and Frances, her husband Samuel C Spurgeon, her brother John E. Rambie, and her granddaughter Christen M Spencer.
She is survived by her children. Ron Copenhaver and wife Kelly of Pleasanton, CA; Bill Copenhaver and wife Michelle of San Antonio, Tx; Karen Spencer and husband Joe of San Antonio, Tx; Guy Copenhaver and wife Lori of San Antonio, Tx; and Candy Loessberg and husband James of Uvalde, Tx; stepson Alan Spurgeon and husband Jay of Bonney Lake, WA. Grandchildren include ToddCopenhaver, Jaime Norwood and husband Kevin, Lauren Dmukhovskiy and husband Vitaliy, Mitchell Copenhaver and wife Chloe, Megan Young, Jordan Copenhaver, Kaylee Copenhaver, Alex Copenhaver, Maci Copenhaver, Brett Copenhaver, Derek Copenhaver, Brian Spencer and wife Terah, and children Nicholas, Trace Lackey. Step grandchildren Korbin Vienne, Ashton Vienne, Kylie Silver, and Maria Johnson and husband Johnny. She had 2 nephews David and Stephen Rambie and one niece Mary Cole from her brother Johnny and his first wife Margaret Patterson. She also had 17 great grandchildren.
