Lucio Ortiz

Lucio Ortiz of Uvalde passed away on January 20, 2021 at his residence at the age of 83.  He was born on September 15, 1937 in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico to Ricardo and Maria Abriana Ortiz.

He married Erlinda Contreras on August 24, 1966 in Eagle Pass, Texas

He is survived by his wife of 54 years of Uvalde; daughters, Linda Acevedo of Uvalde and Rosa Elia Ortiz Fuentes and husband, Ramiro of Lubbock; sons, Lucio Ortiz Jr. and wife, Juanita Cox, Jesus Manuel Ortiz and wife, Norma Rodriguez and Henry Contreras Ortiz and wife, Destiny all of Uvalde; brothers, Jesus Manuel Ortiz, Jose Angel Ortiz of Uvalde and Ricardo Ortiz and wife, Julia of Georgia; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nicholas Ortiz, Pedro Ortiz and Rodolfo Ortiz.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lucio Ortiz Jr, Jesus Ortiz, Henry Ortiz, Lucio Ortiz III, Orlando Ortiz, Abrian Ortiz, Rudy Ortiz, Alejandro Ortiz, Henry Ortiz Jr, Hunter Ortiz, Emiliano Ortiz, Marik Ortiz, Felix Montes, Lorenzo Ortiz, Raymie Fuentes, PJ Rodriguez.
