Laura June was the daughter of John Worley Hatley and Arah Bell Hatley. She was born February 17th, 1936, in Uvalde Tx. and passed away peacefully on October 22nd, 2025.Laura attended Uvalde High School where she met and married Edsel Hicks in 1952. Laura and Edsel had 3 children (Jamie, Cathy, and Shirley) Laura enjoyed all sports and was instrumental in being a part of making sure that her girls had every opportunity to participate in school sports. She spent many years working at the First State Bank of Uvalde. Laura and Edsel enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing and spending time with family. After Edsel’s death in 1981 Laura continued to work in Uvalde where she met Milton (Speed) Coggins and they were married in 1991. Laura and Speed enjoyed collecting and selling antiques and developed many friends in the antique business, they also enjoyed going to the coast fishing and attended the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas numerous times. When Speed passed away in 2019 Laura continued to live in Crystal City until she moved to the Veranda Assisted Living in Uvalde where she had many friends and was always a serious contender in the bingo games.
Laura June (as many people called her) is survived by her daughter Jamie Hunt and husband Bobby of Comfort TX., daughter Cathy Hanson and husband Jerry of Rochester New York, daughter Shirley Hicks of Comfort Tx. and Great Granddaughter Kay Hunt of Weatherford TX. She is preceded in death by her brother Johnny Ray Hatley, husband Edsel Hicks, husband Milton (Speed) Coggins and her grandson Trey Hunt.
Laura enjoyed life and her smile will be remembered by many!!!!
